Abstract
This paper investigates how Internet of Things theories can be applied to the Colombian cacao Industry. In the literature review relevant literature concerning Supply Chain Management and the Internet of Things will be discussed. In the following section a descriptions of the Colombia cocoa market will be presented. Followed by a synthesis, matching theory and practice. In the final section of this paper recommendations and conclusions will be presented. 

Practical relevance
The IoT paradigm offers sufficient opportunities to improve the supply chain and presents a feasible way to transform it into the competitive advantage that Colombian cocoa needs to participate in the international market. Technology-based solutions offer benefits in terms of costs reduction, processes automatisation, value creation and information sharing.
